Now we all know about the Vale of Rheidol Railway, but did you know about the Falmouth Line? Of course not, because this is an alternative universe where this did actually happen. Steam engines would be used from Easter though to the end of half term in October - the rest of the year would be standard DMU services.
Now fast forward a couple of decades to somewhere in the 1980's, and it was soon becoming apparent that there was an untapped market, namely the diesel fan. So an idea was hatched to run a weekend diesel only gala using old style locos from the area, and others not normally seen in Cornwall at that time.
So in May of 1986, the first Diesel Gala took place on the Falmouth line using a Deltic, Hymek, Warship and a Western, along with a 45, 33 and a Class 205 Thumper unit (never seen in Cornwall before). There will be 8 scenarios in all - one for each loco and the thumper, and a special one at the end.
For this scenario (the sixth one) you will be in charge of the 17:20 Falmouth to Truro using Western D1027.
It's a fairly easy drive, passing one service along the way, and arriving in Truro some 30 minutes later.
After the Class 45 arrives in Falmouth from Truro, you will need to change a junction outside the station, so that you can gain access to the line. And you will be held outside Truro for a couple of minutes - this is to let out the 17:50 Truro to Falmouth, hauled by Warship 832.
To run this scenario, you will need the following content:
BR Blue Diesel Electric Pack Loco Add-On
BR Blue Pack Loco Add-On
BR Class 45 'Peak' Loco Add-On
Falmouth Branch Route Add-On
Riviera Line in the Fifties: Exeter - Kingswear Route Add-On
Western Hydraulics Pack Add-On
Class 205 Diesel Electric Multiple Unit Pack (AP)
Mk1 Coach Pack (AP)
Mk2D-F Coach Pack (AP)
